ABOUT THE YMCA

The Vermilion Family YMCA's purpose is to create and implement a program that improves the quality of life among individuals and families of the community in accordance with the highest Christian principles.

The Ohio Department of Human Services licenses the Vermilion YMCA Child Care Center. The license is posted in the director's office and the laws and rules are available at the Center. The Center's licensing record including compliance reports and evaluations from the health, building, and fire departments are available upon request from ODHS. The current ODHS compliance report is posted on the parent bulletin board. The ODHS toll free number is available upon the license for any person to use to report a suspected violation by the Center. According to the law, the Childcare Director and each staff member is required under section 2151:421 of the Revised Code to report their suspicions of child abuse or neglect.

The YMCA believes that quality childcare should provide opportunities and experiences that stimulate a child's physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development. The following are goals specific to YMCA Child Care:

  • To support and strengthen the family unit.
  • To assist children in developing to their fullest potential.
  • To deliver the program in a positive YMCA environment of safety, support, and care.

PARENT ADVISORY BOARD

The Center invites all families to join the Parents Advisory. We gather together once a month to network our ideas for fundraisers, quality programming, updates on changes occurring at the Y, and any complaints or comments. If you would like to come but do not have care for your child let us know and we will have a babysitter on sight.
